Demolition delayed due to blizzard

December 27, 2010 § 1 Comment

Well, we were supposed to be in Five Islands right now, tearing down walls left and right. But the first big storm of the season had other ideas. After watching the forecast for coastal Maine, which included blizzard warnings through today, we decided to postpone our big trip. Our plan was to pull a u-haul trailer filled with cabinetry and furniture up there. But the thought of trying to maneuver our car and a trailer on tiny Lewis Road with 12-18 inches of snow on the ground seemed daunting, to say the least.

I’ve asked Bob to send me some pictures of the house in the snow as soon as he can get back up to Five Islands. He tells me the roof is finished and they hope to start on the siding later this week.

Here’s a picture from the Portland Press Herald of the bridge off of Rt. 1 in Brunswick during the storm.
